This screening is recommended for men ages 50 and older. Please contact Jerian Shaw at jerianshaw@pattieaclay.org or call 859-625-3446 to schedule your appointment. The screenings will be conducted by David Shafran, M.D., Certified, American Board of Urology.
Appointments are made 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Sept. 14. Screenings will be held at the Pattie A. Clay Health and Education Center in Harper Square, 2150 Lexington Road, Suite A.
One in 6 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime. Often prostate cancer will have no symptoms at all. With testing, it can be detected long before any of these prostate cancer symptoms appear.

Inability to urinate or difficulty in starting urine stream
Inability to empty bladder
Blood in urine
Continual pain in the lower back, pelvis or upper thighs
Frequent, urgent need to urinate
Starting at the age of 50, men should be screened for prostate cancer or earlier if they are African American or have a family history of prostate cancer.
