Radiology procedures made simple

Ultrasound:

An ultrasound uses sound waves to produce an image of an organ or tissue.  Ultrasonic echoes are recorded as they strike tissues of different densities and are commonly used to show more detail in soft tissues than simple x-rays.  Ultrasound was first used for viewing developing babies, but now it is also used to measure the size of arteries to detect blockage; or to view any of your organs.
