When your practitioner advises or you think you are in labor, go directly to the Labor Hall, on the 2nd floor of Pattie A. Clay Regional Medical Center. This is the Women’s Care Center. Your family can then go to the Admissions Office on the ground floor, or one of our helpful admissions clerks can come to your room. Please have your insurance card and picture I.D. handy.
As labor progresses you and your baby’s safety and well being is our utmost concern. A wide variety of pain interventions are available. We work closely with our nurse anesthetists, who are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Should you decide to labor with non-medication pain relief, your wishes will be respected.
We encourage the participation of fathers (or significant others) in the birthing process.
Your visitors are welcome on Labor Hall, however, during exams and procedures, all visitors, except your significant other ( i.e.-husband, mother) will be asked to step out. The number of visitors allowed during labor and delivery must be dictated by safety. Staff members must be able to move around the room freely to care for mother and baby. Special arrangements must be made for visitors to Labor Hall who are under 18 years old.
There will be a bonding time for mother and baby on Labor Hall, immediately following the birth. We encourage breast feeding moms to breast feed right after birth. Rarely, an infant’s or mother’s condition dictate that the newborn goes directly to the nursery.
