Pharmacy

The Department of Pharmacy is a patient-centered pharmacy that focuses on the care of patients of all ages and backgrounds. The Department consists of pharmacists, as well as technical and support personnel, who work together to assure patients receive the highest quality pharmaceutical care possible. Clinical services provided by the Department include renal drug monitoring, drug interaction monitoring, medication teaching, therapeutic drug monitoring, drug order review, drug information support for care providers and technology support through automated medication dispensing machines located in all patient care units. Pharmacists are an integral and respected part of the multidisciplinary health care team and are the drug information leaders who help guide safe and effective medication management of all patients. As support to all members of the health care team, they are increasing their responsibilities for designing, implementing and evaluating a therapeutic regimen to produce optimal outcomes for patients.

  • Influencing the selection of appropriate and pharmacoeconomically sound therapies
     
  • Monitoring drug therapy to ensure optimal patient care while minimizing adverse drug events
     
  • Preparing drug monographs for presentation to Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee
