WHAT IS THE WOUND CARE CLINIC?
The Wound Care Clinic is an outpatient clinic dedicated to the treatment of non-healing wounds. We use a team approach to manage chronic wounds. The team consists of primary care physicians and internal medicine physicians specially trained in wound care, general surgeons, plastic surgeons, infectious disease specialists, orthopedic surgeons, dieticians, and nurses who specialize in wound care management.
ARE CHRONIC NON-HEALING WOUNDS A PROBLEM IN THIS AREA?
Every year chronic wounds, caused by diabetes, poor circulation or other conditions, keep approximately 5 million Americans just like you from doing the things they love to do. Persons with diabetes are at a great risk. Up to fifteen percent of the estimated sixteen million Americans with diabetes may suffer from chronic wounds. In this area we have several thousand people affected by these conditions that may lead to a non-healing wound. The Wound Care Clinic can help.
HOW DOES THE WOUND CARE CLINIC WORK WITH MY DOCTOR?
The Wound Care Clinic doctor works with your personal doctor just like any other medical specialist. Our clinic doctors will discuss your treatment program and your progress with your personal physician, unless instructed otherwise. Remember, you’ll need to keep seeing your doctor for routine medical care.
HOW DO I MAKE AN APPOINTMENT AT THE WOUND CARE CLINIC?
If you have a sore or a wound that is not healing or not completely healed in eight weeks you should ask your doctor about the Pattie A. Clay Wound Care Clinic. Or you may call directly to set up an appointment for yourself at (859) 623-0746.
Remember to bring any medications you are taking.
The hours of operation are Monday thru Friday from 8:00am – 4:30pm.
WILL MY INSURANCE COVER MY VISIT?
Most health plans cover Wound Care Clinic visits. Your coverage depends on your specific plan. We are an outpatient department of Pattie A. Clay Regional Medical Center. Please bring your insurance card with you on your first visit.
