Medical-Surgical Nursing

Med-Surg provides complete nursing care 24 hours/day, 7 days a week to primarily adult, geriatric patients. Types of illnesses and/or disease entities that are seen on this unit include respiratory, diabetic, renal, vascular and cardiac. Patients may have cardiac telemetry monitoring done via the Intensive Care Unit. Surgical patients cared for on this unit may include general surgery procedures, orthopedic procedures, and vascular procedures. Nursing staff is responsible for collaborating with other disciplines in the development and implementation of a plan of care for the inpatient through the discharge process.

Medical-Surgical Nursing: 4th Floor
4th Floor Med-Surg involves care of primarily adult, geriatric patients 24 hours/day, 7 days a week. Pediatric patients from the age of birth through <17 years of age are also cared for on this unit. The adult patient problems include respiratory, diabetic, renal, vascular, and cardiac problems. Patients may have cardiac telemetry monitoring done via the Intensive Care Unit. Surgical patients cared for on this unit may include general surgery procedures, orthopedic procedures, and vascular procedures. The pediatric patient needs are primarily mild-moderate respiratory problems, gastrointestinal illnesses, and general pediatric illnesses. Nursing staff is responsible for collaborating with other disciplines in the development and implementation of a plan of care for the inpatient through the discharge process. Negative pressure isolation rooms are available as needed
