Occupational Therapy

Occupational therapy is skilled treatment that helps people of all ages regain, develop, or master everyday “life” skills and achieve independence in all facets of their lives in order to live satisfying lives. Occupational Therapy  at Pattie A. Clay Regional Medical Center is provided on an inpatient basis by licensed/certified Occupational Therapists (OT’s).

The Occupational Therapists (OTs) at Pattie A. Clay Regional Medical Center help patients improve their ability to independently perform tasks in their daily living and working environments. They work with inpatients to improve independence with activities of daily living (ADL’s), functional mobility, basic motor functions and reasoning abilities, and also teach them to compensate for any permanent loss of function they may have experienced through injury, illness, or stroke. Our occupational therapists continually seek to help our patients lead independent, productive, and satisfying lives. In addition to “hands-on” care, the OT’s educate the patients on self-care, use of adaptive equipment as needed, compensatory strategies, and to perform exercises independently as part of a home exercise program.
