Pattie A. Clay’s Pulmonary Rehabilitation program is located on the second floor of Medical Office Building #1 in Suite 24.
The center is open Monday through Friday 7:30 am to 4:30 pm.
Pulmonary Rehabilitation at Pattie A. Clay Regional Medical Center is a multi-disciplinary program which provides exercise conditioning, endurance training, education and emotional support for patients with chronic pulmonary disease. Through rehabilitation, we strive to stabilize or reverse both the physical and mental aspects of pulmonary disease.
Pattie A. Clay Regional Medical Center’s Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program is a 24 session program. Participants meet three days a week. Our goal is to provide individualized instruction and training that will enable patients to perform activities of daily living within their usual limitations.
A thorough assessment is the key factor in this individualized program. A physician evaluates each patient in pulmonary rehabilitation to determine which members of the rehab team will be involved in the individualized treatment approach. Patients participating in a comprehensive pulmonary rehabilitation program repeatedly show a decrease in the number of emergency room visits and number of days spent in the hospital due to their disease. Rehabilitation also improves physical conditioning and self-esteem.
Patients who may benefit from pulmonary rehabilitation include those with:
- Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)
- Emphysema
- Chronic bronchitis
- Asthma
- Cystic fibrosis
- Bronchiectasis
- Pneumoconiosis (black lung)
- Restrictive lung disease
- Lung transplants
The Better Breathers Club is a support group for patients with chronic pulmonary disease who have completed Pulmonary Rehabilitation. They meet the first Tuesday of every month at 5:00 pm in MOB#1 Conference Room Suite #3.
