Speech Language Pathologists, sometimes called speech therapists, provide therapy to individuals of all ages with speech, language, communication, and swallowing disorders. Speech Language Pathology @ Pattie A. Clay Regional Medical Center is provided on an inpatient basis and outpatient for scheduled Modified Barium Swallow studies by a licensed/certified Speech Language Pathologist.
The Speech Language Pathologists (SLP’s) at Pattie A. Clay Regional Medical Center evaluate, diagnose, treat, and help to prevent disorders related to speech, language, cognitive-communication, resonance or voice disorders, oral motor deficits, swallowing, and fluency. Our SLP’s help patients develop, or recover, reliable communication and swallowing skills so patients can fulfill their educational, vocational, and social roles. In addition to hands-on” care, the SLP’s educate the patient and family members augmentative communication devices and alternative communication as needed, vocal exercises to be performed as part of a home exercise program, communication enhancing techniques, and compensatory strategies to swallow without choking or inhaling food or liquid. |
