Making your way through surgery:
If your doctor recommends surgery, we have some helpful tips to ease your preparation and recovery.
Outpatient Surgery:
You may begin the pre-surgery process up to two weeks before your scheduled surgery. This can be done one of two ways.
- If your surgeon recommends that you register by phone or on-line, instructions will be given to you to follow to complete the requirements for admission and surgery.
- If labs, EKG, chest x-ray or other testing is ordered, we would like for you to come to the hospital and complete the process.
Admissions phone number is 859-625-3498. Same Day Surgery phone number is 859-625-3233. During your pre-surgery registration and testing (PAT), you will talk with a member of our nursing staff who will review your health history and give you detailed instructions for the day of your surgery and answer any questions you might have. Your arrival time will be given to you at this time.
What to bring:
- Your hospital insurance card(s).
- Orders or forms from your doctor.
- If you have completed an advance healthcare directive form or living will, please bring a copy with you.
- A list of your current medications.
- For patients under age 18, a parent or guardian must sign consent forms. Guardians must present their copy of the court order granting their guardianship of the minor when registering and on the day of surgery.
Our hours are Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. (closed on week-ends and major holidays).
Insurance:
Many insurance carriers require the patient to be responsible for a co-payment or percentage of approved charges. Co-payments and deductibles are due at the time of service. Payment may be made by cash, check or major credit card. Because insurance requirements vary by contract, it is the patient's responsibility to verify that our hospital is a contracting provider and that all requirements are met for authorization and notification. Our Admitting staff will assist in any way possible.
Day of Surgery:
If you registered by phone or on-line, you will need to enter the door beside the Emergency Room on the ground floor and report to the Registration Department. There, you will sign paper work, be given a black packet and instructed to report to Same Day Surgery lobby to sign in for your procedure at the desk and have a seat. The lobby is straight down the hall from Registration.
If you registered at the hospital prior to the day of surgery, report to Same Day Surgery lobby on the ground floor, sign-in for your procedure at the desk and have a seat. The volunteer will notify the nursing staff that you have arrived. Visitors and family may wait in Same Day Surgery lobby while patient is in the operating room. Please advise volunteer if you leave the area for any reason.
