“Care, Compassion and Confidence” Capital Campaign
The Pattie A. Clay Foundation is dedicated to perpetuating the Hospital’s century-long tradition of quality service and compassionate care in our communities. The Foundation is eager to address the Hospital’s current and future needs through the challenge of the “Care, Compassion and Confidence” Capital Campaign.
It will raise $2.7 million toward renovation, modernization and expansion of the third and fourth floors through gifts sought from members of the Hospital Family, the Community and those who have a special relationship with the Pattie A. Clay Foundation.
THE SOLUTION
Pattie A. Clay Regional Medical Center has earned the community’s confidence and respect through a long history of meeting the highest standards for healthcare, compassion, and quality service -- right here at home.
In keeping with its commitment to the highest standards of care, the Hospital is upgrading in-patient rooms on the third and fourth floors. The renovations will increase in-patient safety, privacy and comfort. Delivery of patient care will benefit from ease of access, and confidentiality will be ensured.
More than 27,000 square feet of space will be updated and renovated, increasing the number of single patient rooms and providing a workplace environment for physicians and staff that improves the efficiency of care, both for the patient and for healthcare providers, in the following ways:
1. Forty-six (46) state-of-the-art single patient rooms, each with handicapped-accessible bathroom and private shower. At completion of this project, PAC will be the only facility in the area to have newly-built single-patient rooms, rather than modified semi-private rooms. Why is this important? A single patient room provides better care at no additional cost in the following ways:
- Provides more efficient and precise patient identification
- Improves infection control
- Allows procedures and examinations in the patient’s room
- Facilitates healing by creating an environment that is more soothing and calming for the patient
- Meets professional standards for improved patient privacy
- Minimizes noise and interruptions
- Patient control of environment (lights, television, visitors)
- Increases privacy for families staying with patients
2. Creation of a four-room transitional care unit.
- Provides special care for patients between the ICU level and the acute care medical-surgical floors
- Allows direct visual monitoring by nursing staff
- Features state of the art technological monitoring equipment
3. Enlarged, redesigned nurses’ stations
- Improved work areas for nurses and other critical health care professionals
- Greater patient privacy
- Immediate access to online technologies
- Private area for physicians to consult with other physicians, nurses, staff, and family members as needed.
4. Space to accommodate the hospitalist, providing an in-house physician 24 hours day, seven days a week
5. Wall-mounted computer stations to provide efficient and immediate electronic updates to patient charts and also greater ease of mobility through hospital corridors
THE COST
The projected renovation cost is $4.2 million. The majority of project funding will be provided through the $2.7 million “Care, Compassion and Confidence” Capital Campaign led by the Pattie A. Clay Foundation, with the remaining $1.5 million financed internally. Throughout the entire project, PAC leadership will continue to diligently manage a balanced budget and to safeguard reserve funds while meeting the healthcare needs of the community, addressing the impact of technological advances, and maintaining reasonable patient costs. |
