As you walk the halls at Pattie A. Clay, you may notice artwork that is quite different from what most hospitals display. There are not Van Gogh replicas or even Thomas Kincaid prints lining the halls and hanging on the patient rooms, what Pattie A. Clay decorates its walls with is much more priceless – Madison County students’ masterpieces.
The artwork of Madison County students line the hallways and fill the patient rooms.
“This began when we started discussing what we wanted to put on the walls in the newly renovated areas of the hospital. We thought about it and nothing seemed to make as much sense as covering the walls with the artwork of the many talented students in Madison County,” said Bob Hudson, Pattie A. Clay CEO.
Because of the overwhelming number of pieces submitted by students, Pattie A. Clay has decided to expand the project to all areas of the hospital. The artwork is framed and put on display for one year. At that time, the hospital will replace the artwork with a new masterpieces and return the artwork to the student.
“The compliments and response that we have received from everyone that sees that artwork is remarkable. Being able to see the artwork of children really brings a smile to the faces of patients and their families. It is really uplifting and everyone has thoroughly enjoyed the project,” said Hudson.
Pattie A. Clay intend to continue the project and is looking forward to hosting an Artist Day each semester which will allow the students and their parents whose artwork is on display to view their masterpieces.
