The PACA Charity Ball

The most famous and enduring of the PACA projects has been the annual Charity Ball. The first Charity Ball was held in 1972 with Mrs. John Martin and Mrs. Lew Garris acting as the presiding officers. A cardiac defibrillator was purchased with the proceeds. The Charity Ball is now the largest fund raiser for Pattie A. Clay, providing funds for needed equipment and renovations. In 2011, the Ball raised $45,000 that was used to upgrade and replace laboratory equipment. In 40 years, the ball has donated more than $1 million to the hospital. This year, ball funds are being raised to purchase an Endobronchial Ultrasound machine, that will aid our doctors in the diagnosis of lung cancer, lung infections, and other diseases in the chest.

The 41st Annual Charity Ball, "Studio 54," will be held June 16, 2012 at the EKU Center for the Arts. The black tie event will include dancing with music from the Jimmy Church Band, dinner, and a magnificent atmosphere.

There are many ways and opportunities to support the Charity Ball. If you are interested in sponsoring the event or working on a committee, please contact Jerian Shaw, PACA Ball co-chair, at 859-625-3446 or jerianshaw@pattieaclay.org.
