Robert J. Hudson has been named Chief Executive Officer (CEO), by the Pattie A. Clay Regional Medical Center Board of Directors.

Hudson is a graduate of the University of Kentucky with a degree in accounting and has been a member of the Pattie A. Clay administrative team since 1978.  Prior to coming to Pattie A. Clay, he was employed by the University of Kentucky Medical Center as the director of admitting and financial counseling.  Since 1993 he has held the title of vice president of fiscal services.

As vice president Hudson has been responsible for all of the financial functions of the hospital including general accounting, patient accounting, registration, materials management, health information and management of informational services.

In addition to his many responsibilities at the hospital, he has been an active member of the Kentucky Chapter of the Healthcare Financial Management Association for many years, serving as president in 1991-92.

“I’ve been here for more than twenty-five years and I know the community, the staff and the inner workings of the hospital,” Hudson said.  “I know what’s worked in the past, what hasn’t worked and I am confident we can build on the positive things the previous CEO’s have done.”

“With the numerous changes in health care reimbursement policies and payor mix, hospitals are facing a number of challenges for the future,” says Hudson.

As CEO, Hudson said he hopes to address these challenges. At the top of the list, is the need to stay up to date with the information technology and automation needs of patient charting to enhance patient care.

“One of our other important goals is to have Pattie A. Clay more involved with the community, particularly in the education setting,” Hudson said.  “We have prepared a grant proposal jointly with Eastern Kentucky University and Berea College to prepare students for the  information technology aspects of health care careers.  We hope to also work with the Madison County board of education independent school systems and health department to provide other programs.”

"I am confident that with the highly competent and dedicated staff we have here at Pattie A. Clay Regional Medical Center, we will continue to grow stronger from each new challenge, added Hudson.”
